BioWare, EA 2D Announce Dragon Age Legends For Facebook

Electronic Arts divisions BioWare and EA 2D have announced Dragon Age Legends, a free online game coming to Facebook in February 2011 and inspired by the Dragon Age PC/Xbox 360/PS3 franchise.

Dragon Age Legends is designed with social gamers in mind, promising to blend the series' tactical combat with co-operative gameplay. Players will be able to earn exclusive unlockable items in the Facebook title for Dragon Age II, which releases for Windows, Xbox 360, and PS3 next March.

The social game takes place in Free Marches, Dragon Age II's primary setting. Players will be able to join their friends to complete quests, earn loot, share rewards, and grow their kingdom. Dragon Age Legends also features character customization options and an upgrade system.

EA 2D, a group of experienced Flash game developers aiming to create "blockbusters for the browser", helped develop the Facebook game. It previously worked on browser-based game Dragon Age: Journeys, another online spin-off for the BioWare RPG series, which launched in October 2009.

"We are privileged to be working with BioWare to bring the Dragon Age universe to the hundreds of millions of gamers on Facebook," says EA 2D general manager Mark Spenner. "Our goal is to change the perception of social network games and attract new players to the Facebook platform by raising the quality bar."

Spenner continues, "Dragon Age Legends will deliver a deep, sophisticated experience, and we will continue to delight gamers by adding new features and content far into the future."
